Effets des termes de l’échange sur la croissance économique dans les pays de la CEDEAO

Objectif : A l’ère de la mondialisation et de la libéralisation des échanges, les termes de l’échange suscitent beaucoup d’intérêt ces dernières décennies. La diversité des produits échangés aussi bien dans leurs caractéristiques que dans leurs prix provoque une variation des termes de l’échange qui pourrait se répercuter sur la croissance. Ainsi, l’objectif de ce papier est d’analyser empiriquement la tendance et la variabilité des termes de l’échange sur la performance économique des pays de la CEDEAO.
Conception/méthodologie/approche : La méthodologie utilise un modèle de croissance qui a fait l’objet d’estimation sur les pays de la CEDEAO sur la période de 2000 à 2018 en données de panel.
Résultats : Les résultats issus des estimations conduites à l’aide des modèles ARDL montrent que la tendance des termes de l’échange affecte positivement la croissance pendant que la variabilité des termes de l’échange affecte négativement la croissance des pays de la CEDEAO.
Originalité/valeur : À travers cette étude, il convient de mener des politiques publiques qui doivent répondre à la fois aux défis de court terme et de long terme des mouvements des termes de l’échange sur la performance économique de leur pays.
