The Fiscal Role of Excise Duty in Poland and Other Countries of the European Union

The purpose of this paper is to present the fi scal role of excise duty in Poland in comparison with other European Union member states. First the theoretical aspects of excise duty are presented and then empirical research was conducted. In this paper an analysis of the evolution of the income derived from excise duty divided into diff erent groups of excise goods was also conducted. In addition the article shows the relationship between economic growth in Poland and the volume of excise incomes. Th e study covered the period 2004-2014.
