Agile Project Management as a Flexible Instrument of Competitive Strategy through Innovation

Turbulence, instability, acceleration, and the complexity of the environment affect the need to implement constant innovations in the fields of organization and management, the development of new products and technological changes. These circumstances require a proper approach to project management, which is one of the key instruments of competition through innovation. Current studies indicate that some aspects of innovative projects, in particular the creation of new products or services, require a better alignment of methods to optimize the project management process. The traditional approach to project management based on linear planning is increasingly being replaced by agile project management, which is based on flexibility, the specific competencies of the project team and incremental value creation for the customer. Increasingly, it is assumed that agile project management can make a significant and positive impact on the effectiveness of innovative projects and thereby directly affect the competitive strategy of a company.
