Outsourcing of Logistics Services in Agile Supply Chains

Abstract

The growing requirements of markets require that the ability to respond quickly to customer needs is crucial to the functioning of the companies. The focus on the end consumer causes changes and the reorientation of the way in which enterprises and supply chains function. The concept of agility may be a response to the growing requirements of markets. It indicates the need to compete in the level and quality of service, and above all, outranking competitors in terms of efficiency in meeting the needs of customers. An outsourcing of logistics services can be the solution enabling the achievement of the agility of supply chains (including activities connected with storage and transport). The article describes the concept of agile supply chains and the main characteristics of agile supply chain is illustrated . The issue of the outsourcing of logistic services, as well as its significance in the context of increasing the agility of supply chains is discussed.
