Stages of the Pre-investment Phase in Polish Enterprises - Results of Empirical Research

The aim of the article was to identify procedures for the preparation of investment in micro-enterprises. The paper reviews the literature related to the issue of investment. Moreover, on the basis of empirical research, the specificity of action taken by micro-enterprises in the pre-investment stage of the investment process was presented. The study was based on the results of a questionnaire survey carried out on a group of 177 micro-enterprises operating in Poznan during 2013-2014. The study showed that there is hardly any standarisation in the preparation process of the investment in micro-enterprises. Investment decisions, planning and evaluation of the investment projects are based more on entrepreneurs' intuition, knowledge and experience than carefully planned and analyzed data.
