Abstract

The aim of this paper is to indicate that intuitive potential is a significant managerial competence. The article consists of three principal parts. The first part presents changes that have taken place in the work conditions of contemporary managers, which have resulted in a transformation of managerial behaviour and roles. Moreover, the author presents the desired competences of modern managers which correspond to the mentioned changes. The author argues that these competences require the possession and use of intuitive managerial potential. In the next part of the article the author defines the ambiguous notion of intuition and indicates its characteristics, which distinguish it from rational analysis. In the final part the author attempts to compare selected characteristics of managerial competence and intuitive potential to demonstrate a convergence between these categories.
