Purpose: This study aims to analyse the factors influencing the viability of women’s startups in Lebanon, particularly in the context of multiple crises. The goal is to understand how these factors impact the financial autonomy of women entrepreneurs and their role in the emancipation of women in a society beset by economic, political, and social challenges.
Design/methodology/approach: The methodological approach is based on a literature review and econometric analysis using the Elastic Net model to identify and assess the impact of different factors on the performance of women’s startups. The study considers variables such as product innovation, economic stability, and ongoing crises.
Findings: The findings reveal that product innovation is the most decisive factor in the financial success of female startups, while multiple crises, particularly economic and political, exert negative pressure on their viability. A stable socio-economic context is crucial to ensure the development of these companies.
Originality/value: This research stands out for its consideration of women’s entrepreneurship in an environment marked by a series of crises. Thus, it offers an innovative perspective on the unique challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in Lebanon. It also highlights the importance of supporting these initiatives to foster women’s economic emancipation in a difficult context.
