The Role and Competences of the Project Manager in Agile Project Management Against the Background of the Traditional Approach to Project Management

In the contemporary economic reality considerable changes in the approach to project management can be observed. This is evolving from traditional project management towards agile project management. The traditional approach, based on classical planning, is proving less and less suitable in the modern, dynamic and complex management environment. The agile approach, on the other hand, is based on the adaptability, flexibility and creativity of the project team. This has a direct impact on the role and powers of the head of the project, who is increasingly becoming a coordinator as well as a team leader possessing extraordinary specialist and behavioural competences.
