Urbanisation, qualité des institutions et santé publique dans les pays d'Afrique subsaharienne

Cet article vise à examiner la relation entre l'urbanisation et les indicateurs de santé publique sous le prisme de la qualité des institutions dans les pays d'Afrique subsaharienne (ASS). En utilisant un panel de 41 pays couvrant la période 2002 à 2019 et la méthode des moments généralisés (GMM), les résultats montrent que l'urbanisation actuelle de l'ASS, ne s'accompagne pas d'une amélioration des indicateurs de santé. Cependant, des institutions fortes atténuent l'effet négatif de l'urbanisation sur les résultats en matière de santé publique. Ces résultats impliquent que les gouvernements des pays d'ASS doivent promouvoir des institutions fortes et inclusives afin de garantir les gains sanitaires de l'urbanisation.
