The article presents a set of recommendations for the economic policy. These recommendations take into account three most important circumstances under which the Polish economy will be functioning in the next few years: completion of the systemic transformation, membership in the EU and globalization. The author argues that economic success measured by the growth of welfare will be a resultant of the impact of three interrelated categories: competitiveness - internationalisation - effectiveness. The recommendations for the economic policy are presented in two groups: positive recommendations - which activities should belong to the scope of the economic policy; negative recommendations - which activities the economic policy should not deal with.
